P90X X Stretch

No sweat!

By far, the X stretch is the easiest (albeit a crucial) part of the P90X routine.... you're actually given the option to either make this your rest day or do the stretch... as a commited P90X challenger I opted to sacrifice that rest day to gain optimum benefits with my P90X program by doing the stretch every day 7. Stretching as we know allows our body flexibility, reduce risks for injuries and helps reduce pain brought about by heavy exercise.

I just finished my 3rd week of P90X and I would credit much of it to my blogging. Honestly, I was up to the point of quitting everything altogether... but then what?.... I would have to do it all over again or worse, find another exercise program that will caught my fancy.. in the end I'm just good at starting things up and never finishing the end....

No matter what happens I will see this through the end... In 2 days it's going to be 2010... Happy New year to all! Bring it!

P90X Evening exercise

For those of us who have a 9 by 5 weekday work sked, most don't want to wake up early dawn (especially in winter) and start sweating out. I choose to exercise at night just for convenience and it works with my schedule.

When I started my P90X I usually do it prior to my dinner. It's exhausting. Fact is I eat little at lunch (that's 12NN) and by the end of the day I'm hungry and sleepy. Coffee perks me up so I drink a cup. Then I start with my P90X routine. Sometimes it happens that my attention is distracted. There's a pop up chat from your good friend, or you happen to have a redbox dvd that you have to watch and return by 9PM... my point is when you're distracted your exercise sched gets delayed. Now you don't want to exercise on a full stomach so you end up having to choose to eat later. There were incidents that I ate my dinner after 10PM. That's not very healthy.

Today, I decided to eat around 6PM. Some chinese and nothing else. Then I started my Yoga X by 9PM and felt really good. I wasn't hungry at all. Thirsty maybe but definitely not hungry.

What I realize about this is when you eat 2 hours prior to doing your exercise you perform better and you have more energy and focus during the exercise...

p90x, hurdles along the way

I thought I had it... you know.. I was up there... first week I was up and running... jumpin'.. pressin play.. bringin' it.. then i got sick on day 12.. low back pain and diarrhea.. ugh! that ruined it all.. i just couldn't(wouldn't) get up from the bed.. i couldn't(wouldn't) muster any energy to proceed with the exercise.. 2 days.... the worse part was it was the two days before xmas.. that gave me more excuse not to do anything.... of course.. when it's a holiday... all you really wanna do is eat, drink and be merry.. grrr.. I'm so ashamed at myself now.. my P90x 90 day plan.. all trashed into ruins....back to the real world
it's a setback.. rather than wallow in my guilt and quit... i kept my eye on the price.. reaching the 90th day... i missed out on 4 days...so what? it's my life.. it's all up to me whether to quit or keep on keeping on.. with my mind set on finishing this i will hang in there..

december 26th.. i'm well.. i'm alert.. and just finished watching a Very long engagement (magnifique by the way).... had a cup of coffee and checked my day sked.. shoulders & arms/ab rip x... let's go! i was switching between 10. 12.15 lb dumb bells.. halfway through I stuck with 12 lbs and doing 15 reps on average... I feel great! Khaki is back!

P90X, recovery formula alternative

Chocolate Milk???

Yes, you heard it right... I'm drinking chocolate drink from Prairie Farms instead of buying the recommended P90X recovery formula...... whoops! I'm not saying that that stuff isn't good... Of course I wanna get my hands and my lips on that nutritious and 'hopefully' delicious drink... but hey! man's gotta stick with the budget for now. $4 a gallon, can't beat that.. I read the blog that supports Choco Milk as a good recovery drink.. also the blog is linked to a CBS article citing it as the New Sports Drink. But hey! ultimately it's your choice.. it's your body after all....

P90X, second week is a struggle

I want to quit already...

Yes... It feels like that. It's one of those days that somehow you just don't know if it's ever gonna work.. I defeatist concept I know.. but heck I'm human...

Well anyway I started my second week of P90X yesterday doing my back and shoulders/ab ripper X (the exercise that gave me sore-y muscles...) and I did all right... My target was to finish 10 push ups (with stands) and for the first few parts I did well.. Then my muscles started to wean out.. As the succeeding push up maneuvers ensue my reps became less 7. 6 . 5.... 0.. Yeah, I came to a point when I couldn't even do 1.. As of now I'm not doing the pull ups... instead I used exercise bands/tubes which was pretty good to start with knowing I can only do one pull ups... mind you I don't have any space too to mount the bar so that'll have to wait... the ab ripper was a whipper.. oh I was a mess already when I started doing it...

tonight is friday and although I just don't feel like it I will just do it.. I'm convincing myself that it's only going to get better once I start seeing some results.. Everyday is a step closer to my goal... that gorgeous body, ripped and toned abs that everbody covets....

Plyometrics X... Just do your best... and forget the rest!

P90X, exercise and food

5 extra lbssss!!!

I weighed myself this morning and was in disbelief.. I just finished my first week of P90X excruciating, honest to goodness, hardest exercise routines I've ever done in my life and this is what I get? I looked back at the week that was and decided to blame it on the second servings...

Then later I received a newsletter from runnner's world about this subscriber who was an avid runner. ran the miles, watched her caloric intake and ended up gaining more pounds... she "eats like a chicken and exercises like a racehorse".... imagine her frustration.... One advise she got was To eat more... that maybe she was eating less and her metabolic rate has dropped... that because her body is afraid when she's gonna eat next it tried to conserve what less calories she takes in.... read more: Can't lose weight

I'm afraid there might be some truth to it coz when I registered in dailyplate website it said that for me to lose 1 lb per week I have to eat like 2300 cal... OMG! for me that's a lot of food... my weekday meals compose of garden salads, fruits, thinly sliced hams, cheese and wheat breads... maybe between 1200 to 1500 cal...I'm mostly active all through out the day but it seems nothing is working... I may experiment on this but will need to do more research...I really don't want to deal with the calories and food measurements etc this time.... I would maintain whatever diet I have (and not give in too much to the temptation)... maybe in a month or two then I would look further as to what I require to gain some muscle and tone...

well it's the national eating month... what can I say... just bring it!

P90X blog

Here's a helpful blog about P90X... it's quite lengthy but at least it gets a lot of questions answered: P90X wiki

after reading this blog I realized that there's still so much I need to do to catch up and have my P90X body... for one, the nutrition... I've no protein shakes, protein bars or creatine.. Ey! am not a fit junkie here.... there's just soooo many products to choose from... though my diet consists mainly of garden salad, wheat breads and lean meats I know it's not enough... I have a feeling I need one of those protein thingies to gain some bulk.. I'm also on the ecto side with a couple of lumps on the belly... since I'm still on my second week I decided to just concentrate on the exercises for now... and lay low on BK whoppers!

Bring it....

P90X redoing Day 1

Okay... so I messed up! Heck yeah.....

I started my Day 1 for P90X on December 7, 2009. That was Monday... yet I missed out on two days of work out... and instead of combining the ab ripper X with my chect and back I did it the next day... being late on my exercise meant that I have to readjust my sched.. Now my real Day 1 for P90X is December 10.... nothing wrong with that... now I can just swing along with my sched... it's a bumpy and sore-y ride but the benefits I expect to gain will be worth it... Also I purchased my equipment over the weekend... push up stands, yoga mat and rubber tubings..(all in wal-mart)... the pull up bars will have to wait... I consider myself in the beginner stage for P90X.. if you let me do pull ups.. I can only give you one.. hahaha.... better than nothing! Let's bring it....

P90X yoga X

Sunday....

After completing my P90X ab ripper x, I decided to do yoga X.. 1 hr 30 min of yogalistic poses... stretching my tightened muscles to the core... this exercise is all about coordination, balance, stretching and breathing, an important part of body conditioning..

I am not a balance man. I struggle, tumble and fall doing such poses as tree, table and such... But I bring it.. i get back right there... cramps... oh yeah... I get it a lot.. doing the stretches and awkward yoga poses was not somthing my body desired.. it felt like i pulled a muscle with the twitching.. nah! it's just getting used to it...

it's all good.. Tony is patient and does variation for those who struggle with the sequences.. i like the part that the hardest yoga poses were done at the beginning of the exercise.. that way i still wanted to go on knowing that it's only going to get easier..

sweat and strech everybody....

P90X week 1

December 7, 2009

Stats: Day 1
5'6
150 lbs
31 inch waist

The first day for my 90 day P90X challenge. I would like to capitalize the word CHALLENGE. Coz really it is a challenge in itself to follow through and keep going with the exercise instructor Tony Horton. The first exercise deals with the back and shoulders that took about an hour. Halfway through the exercise I was beat. Doing push ups is just sooooo heavy. You do as much push ups for a minute then after about 15 seconds of recovery you do your pulls ups... Imagine doing 100 push ups in one hour.. then you'll get the gist of what I mean.. I was sore... I can barely bend my elbow with the muscle spasm it brought me.

As advised I took a picture of me.. front, side and back... oh dear it was nasty! scrawny arms... bulging tummy.. chicken feet.. you get the picture..

But I have committed myself to doing this exercise.

That was 6 days ago. Everyday I committed myself to doing the exercise with my best effort. Just do your best, forget the rest.....

Diet. On weekdays I get to have a low carb diet. Mostly fruits, veggie salads and wheat breads.. Weekend continues to be a challenge as I don't stay home. My friend in another town eats real food. Greasy, calorie filled and cholesterol packed meals. Fried chicken, afritada, and double chocolate cake.... now if that won't blow your tummy big.. then... there's the soda and beer... hahaha....

so I missed 2 days of my P90X work out... but I'm not giving up

continued....
